Marmaris – Symi – Rhodes – Marmaris

A cross-border route linking the quiet bays of the Bozburun Peninsula with two of the Dodecanese’s most distinctive islands. Over seven nights, the landscape shifts from pine-covered Turkish shores to the colourful harbour of Symi and the medieval walls of Rhodes.

The voyage

The route experience

The journey begins in Marmaris, leaving its sheltered harbour for the quieter waters of the Bozburun Peninsula. Forested hills gradually give way to a more rugged coastline, where small coves and clear anchorages offer the first opportunities to swim. Bozburun itself remains closely connected to Türkiye’s wooden boatbuilding tradition, with gulets still taking shape in the yards around its shore.

From Bozburun, the route crosses to Symi. The island’s harbour appears almost theatrically from the sea: pastel-coloured neoclassical houses rise in tiers above the waterfront, framed by steep, rocky hills. Time ashore can be spent wandering through Yialos, climbing towards the upper town or settling into one of the harbourfront tavernas as the evening ferries depart.

Rhodes brings a different scale and rhythm. Behind its fortified harbour lies the UNESCO-listed Medieval City, where narrow stone streets lead between Byzantine churches, Ottoman buildings and the Palace of the Grand Master. Beyond the city, the island offers sheltered bays where the pace returns to the water.

The return passage follows the Turkish coast back towards Marmaris, with the final swim stops selected according to the day’s wind and sea conditions. Green hills closing around Marmaris Bay mark the end of a week shaped equally by quiet anchorages, island life and centuries of maritime history.

Planning notes

This is a sample itinerary rather than a fixed daily schedule. The final route is planned by the captain according to weather conditions, port availability and the yacht’s cruising permissions. Greek island itineraries also require customs clearance and involve additional port and local cruising expenses.

This route suits guests who would like to combine the privacy of a gulet holiday with time ashore in two very different Greek island towns. Request a charter and we will match the yacht and itinerary to your group.
